Entries are now OPEN for Dumbo Feather’s high school student storytelling competition, New Conversations.
Open to students in year 7-10 from across Australia, this competition encourages students to interview someone who inspires them and invites them to share their story. The competition aims to connect students to the power of storytelling, develop their communication skills and be reminded of the emotional value of face-to-face conversation.
This year we’re doing things a bit different, We have partnered with the award winning education organisation Cool Australia to create an extensive Australian Curriculum aligned toolkit so that teachers will have free access to lesson plans, digital worksheets and a host of other resources to support New Conversations in the classroom.
Students can tell the story in four ways: a 300 word summary of their interview, a cartoon strip, a video or written conversation in the form of a Dumbo Feather interview.
Students and teachers will have the chance to WIN an iPad, a 1 year subscription to Dumbo Feather, cash prizes and be published in the Dumbo Feather magazine and website.
