In June 2018, Patagonia launched the film takayna to generate global attention and gain support for World Heritage protection for the Tarkine region in north-west Tasmania. In the months that followed, 217,000 people from around the world signed the change.org petition, calling for Tasmanian Premier Will Hodgman to nominate takayna/Tarkine for World Heritage protection. This petition will be the biggest petition ever tabled on the environment in any state, as well as the federal Australian Parliament.
On Tuesday 27th of November, Patagonia and the Bob Brown Foundation will be hosting a rally on the lawns of Parliament House Hobart to thank those from the local and global communities who showed their support for the campaign.
All are welcome to come and celebrate the campaign for World Heritage protection for takayna/Tarkine. The event will kick off at 7:30pm with a sunset takayna film screening, followed by live music and special appearances and a not-to-be missed surprise feature at 8:30pm sharp.
